The Bay Model presents the entire San Francisco Bay
watershed as a hydraulic model in one walkable space. Visitors start in the "mountains" and follow the water down to the sea. There is also a exhibit about Marinship, the World War 2 shipbuilding that happened at this site. The model has seasonal hours. Currently they are open Tuesdays to Saturdays 9:00 am to 4:00pm for self guided (and audio tour) visiting or prearranged tours and field trips. Information boards are placed in a variety of locations as you stroll around. For tours, contact (415) 332-3871 preferably three weeks in advance. A list of teachers resources is here. The model also offers a Wonder of Water teacher workshop for independent field trips. Call (415)332-3871 for more info. Admission is free and there are parking and picnic tables available. |
