American Journeys, from the Wisconsin Historical Society, has numerous primary historical sources available for reference and reading. They also have a guidebook for teachers.
Calisphere is a historical database of images and text gathered from libraries and museums. It is difficult to browse but easy to search for something on a specific topic.
Heyday Books, a Berkeley publisher whose mission is to represent all sides of California's story.
