Point Bonita is the place to go back in time to learn about the San Francisco Bay of the 1800s and all of its shipwrecks. The lighthouse has a lot of history to share since it was built in 1855 as the third lighthouse on the West Coast. It continues to be a functional lighthouse today.
The lighthouse is open to the public Saturday through Monday 12:30 to 3:30.
It is a strenuous hike to and from the point with restrooms up near the parking lot. The parking lot is small with an overflow lot near by. Bring water and snacks as there are none available. |
